Stéphane Ducret combines the Google iconography with reproductions of masterpieces and portraits of contemporary masters in visually dynamic paintings and works on paper. Each of his series reflects a range of art-historical influences and unfolds in mysterious imaginary settings.
Ducret was born in Lausanne, Switzerland. He received a BFA followed by a Master in Art and Art History from the HEAD (Haute Ecole d’Art et de Design) of Geneva.
Inaugurated in 2023, the My Own Private Museum paintings raise the question of the creator's identity and confront the void, the blank page, even the erasure of the self.
In this series, Ducret paints « portraits » of predominant Contemporay artworks and artists, confronting them with the new, free, global museum that is the Internet.
