Alexandra Carambellas (*1970) studied Fine Arts at Central St. Martins College and Middlesex University in London from 1997 to 2001. Aditionally to her artistic practice, she has been teaching various workshops in Switzerland and abroad. From 2004-2018 she worked at Zurich University of the Arts within the Spatial Design Master of Advanced Studies and the artists-in-labs programme. Alexandra lives currently in Athens and Zurich.
Artistically, I engage with the question of home and memory. The narrative and depiction of space, both on a visual and conceptual level, are important aspects of my work. My own photographs, images from family archives, or collected photos from thrift stores serve as the foundation and inspiration for many works.
